Blog #1: Our first blog post! How exciting! If you missed what we did prior to week 5, weeks 1-4 are also noted in this blog post.
Weeks 1-4
Unboxed the Create® 3 and used the included Python Playground to learn how to write basic Python code to control it via bluetooth.
Downloaded virtual machines and installed ROS2 with comprehensive and specific documentation.
Did a hackathon where we had 25 interns download and install ROS2 to find any inconsistencies in our documentation or errors they ran into.
Connected the robot and our machines to a hotspot.
Ran simple command code to direct the robot to do small tasks (drive forward, turn, dock, etc.)
Learned how to create a workspace and package.
Learned how publishing and subscribing in ROS2 works.
Used Sawyer's example code to run full python scripts on our robots.
Week 5
Wrote our own python client library codes to run.
Figured out how to disable multicast and connect our virtual machines and robots to Tufts Wireless by using a network adapter USB.
Presented our findings so far to LEGO®
Figured out how to run telepresences and tele-operational bots with what we found online.
Wrote own GitHub repo so students can clone that and immediately get it working.
Built phone holders out of LEGO® Spike Prime pieces and connected that to our robots, zoomed in on our phones, and drove around the CEEO. See this page.
